Title: Tires please
Post by: roverman on May 11, 2012, 08:18:57 PM
I would like to find "honest" pricing on Nitto NT 01's. Discount Tire Zone list $114. ea on their webbsite, but not in stock and don't know when. Summit Racing says they will price match, but will not admit to DTZ's webbsite price. I have since faxed proof. Perhaps this is a problem of too much demand vs pricing games ? Anyone have a tire distributor they like ? Thanks, roverman.

Art,
I deal with Tire Rack and I am happy with the service and prices. I run Sumitomo HTR-Z tires and I really like the ride, performance, and price. The wear rating is 180 but I got 3 years out of my last set and there was about 50% of the tread left. The only reason I took them off was to put on the new 17" rims and new HTR-Zs.

Thanks Phil, I was able to buy from Summit Racing as they "price matched" Discount Tire Zone's webbsite listed price, which is phoney !  "Zones" real price is $136 ea. vs $114.,(webb). Games !  Cheers, Art.

$114 sounds like a great price. What size did you get?

205-55-14 NT-o1's. They don't have a good size for 15 x 8" rims. These should be good enough to learn on. 14 x7 Yongblod wheels came with car , for wet races. Cheers, roverman.

Sounds like you got a fair deal. I also deal with Tire Rack and used Sumitomos on my Midget.

I've been running 205/55-14 Toyo RA1s on 14X6 for several years on the street. 14X7 would be much better.  Can't get them any more so went with the best extreme Summer tires I could find, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.  Had to settle for 195/60-14, though.

Nitto NTo1 , 205-55-14 fits 5.5"-7.5" rim. They just went to $134 ea.  Cheers, roverman.

I just bought Hankook RS3s in 225/45/15 for the rally car. They are a 140 ratiing the lowest Targa NF allows before they add time to you final time. They cost 110 each and were in stock too.

Look for a 4 digit number on the sidewall  near the bead.  First 2 are the week, 2nd 2 are the year.

Check both sides of the tire. My Toyo RA-1s  only have 'em on one side.
Title: Re: Tires please, not so old ?

Carl and clan, "CEH 4 6 11" !  I'm thinkin April 06/2011 ?  Seems kinda OLD, for tires that were back-ordered ? These are for racing, and hence my concern. Thanks, Art.

Usually the numbers are together, no spaces, like 4611.  That would be the 46th week of 2011.
