Title: mounting rear view mirror on a gt
Post by: rkas3882 on April 05, 2012, 09:58:26 AM
Hey Curtis, I saw that you have a chevy s10 rear view mirror in your mg, just wondering how hard it was to mount? Did you have to make any modifications for it? thanks

Normally, you'd glue a steel mounting pad to the windshield. (You can buy the pads and the special glue from any auto parts store.) Easy enough, but sometimes you get a good glue joint and sometimes you don't. I did something a little different: I welded the steel mounting pad onto my roll cage.

p.s. it's funny you mentioned this today. Just yesterday I was talking to Kelvin Dodd at Moss Motors. He told me he has a fancy Ford Explorer mirror, and in addition to LED map reading lights his mirror also has a built-in electronic compass and inside/outside air temperature display. There are some really nifty mirrors on newer cars.

Thanks Curtis, I had seen some of these mirrors in Chevy's before and always thought it would be great to have one with lights in a british car and I saw your build on here and looked on ebay and was just wondering about the mounting. Glad to know its just a universal mount.
