Title: 4.0 Oil Sump & front cover Question
Post by: NCtim on March 25, 2012, 05:32:00 PM
Hey Guys,

I've been reading through the posts about engine choices and conversions and was wondering why folks feel the need to change out the oil sump on a 4.0 Rover. Is this because there are clearance issue with the MGB front cross member? If so isn't the Ford 302 worse? If you do recommend changing it, what do you change it to? The 215 or 300 sump?

I also see that this engine has the serp front cover with the dizzy drive plugged. Would changing the front cover w/o dizzy drive shorten the length of the engine?

Cheers & thanks!
Tim
