Post by: RMO 699F on October 20, 2011, 10:56:00 PM
Can anyone give me part # info/source for a 160 and 180 degree thermostat for the rover 3.9L? Having trouble at NAPA, Advance etc. finding it.
Thanks

No sweat Mike.
Use one for a small block Chevy.
Cheers
Fred

P.S. use the 180 or 195 one.
It will actually cool better. And make your engine run cleaner.

Thanks Fred, you are spot on with your SBC recommendation. I had called Mark at D&D a couple of days ago and he recommended
the parts master #20060 thermostat (160*). As of yesterday I could not find that part listed anywhere, Today, I found out that Parts Master is sold through Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper auto parts stores. I called one local B2B store and they had the 20060 thermostat. Turns out the 20060 is a sbc thermostat. Just for future reference, here are the 3 necessary items that Mark was kind enough to tell me to get:

Gasket - Fel Pro #12994
Thermostat - Parts Master # 20060 (180* thermostat is #20080)
Gasket/Housing Sealer- Permatex Aviation Formula Gasket Material # 80017

He recommended putting the sealer on both metal surfaces, let sit for a few minutes, then button up the housing with the gasket.
Ideally, let this cure for a day before adding coolant.
