Title: Congratulate Don Munoz because he's off to a very fast start!
Post by: Moderator on September 12, 2011, 01:33:39 PM
Don just had a great first weekend with his new racecar at Watkins Glen, and he went home smiling. He left us smiling too.  Don purchased the James Bowler built MGB GT V8 chassis (http://www.britishracecar.com/JamesBowler-MG-MGBGTV8.htm) and also Les Gonda's spare Rover racing engine (http://www.britishracecar.com/LesGonda-MG-MGBGTV8.htm), made a few very clever tweaks of his own, and was successful right out of the box!

Now Don is no newbie to racing, but it's been two years since he stopped running his Lotus 23b (http://www.britishracecar.com/DonMunoz-Lotus-23B.htm) and about seven years since he sold his old MGB racecar (http://www.britishracecar.com/DonMunoz-MG-MGB.htm).  We would have excused him for being rusty or cautious, but instead he gave us a great show all weekend long. He has many plans for improving his car, and we'll be excited to watch as his lap times show his progress.

Don called me this morning with a race report,,,,, he is PUMPED UP ! , I trhought for sure the rain would mess up the whole weekend but Don said the weather was good. He worked his butt off trying to get ready and Rod Hahneman(Spridgetech) was
over at his place a lot of evenings working with him, a good result!!

I didn't hear from Don how many more races he plans to do this autumn. He did mention that he intends to rebuild the front suspension, making it more similar to how his old MGB was set up.
