Hi---many thanks for listing my little two and a half year head scratch-Not as radical as a lot of MG's on this site but I thought I would give it a go. The car has changed a little over the past month or so with bonnet/hood finish and interior dash face.
Will try to give a build log with pictures etc if any peeps are interested.

Must admit to a cheat if you had not guessed it already.....so to cut a short storey long..
Take 1
The car when I purchased it had walnut dash facings and I had planned to replace these with carbon fibre and to use the old ones as templates. So I bought the raw carbon cloth and resins and laminated myself up a carbon sheet on an old shiny kitchen work top. Later I made some paper templates from the old timber facings and cut out all of the facings, prepped, clear coat and polish = job done..To easy! = yup

The fibre glass bonnet took 40 hours work to get to a super flat finish and Mike "a mate of mine" made a super job of this and when he painted it it looked like black molasses, "until" the sun warmed it up and there were very small settlement dimples all over it (gutted) every body said it looked ok as it was glass fibre, but I was miffed to say the least.

For a second hand aluminium bonnet I was looking at around £300.00 plus the cost of finishing it £200.00 so I just had to say no at this point as this was a step too far, so I looked at alternative finishes. I looked at "carbon wrapping vinyl", the best quality I could find material wise I was looking at £120.00 (not to bad "ish"), but I thought £120.00 for a sheet of plastic! what if I mess it up?....looked and looked and found a company on line 25 miles away (£160.00 supplied and fitted with a five year guarantee) job done....
BUT the facings did not match in texture or colour......Lads who fitted the wrap to the bonnet gave me an off cut and I covered the genuine carbon with carbon look vinyl!!......got to laugh though
SO, it will do for now until an alloy bonnet comes available
Great story - and good to know I'm not alone in the do/re-do department.
Wow. Now if that isn't a hoot. Genuine carbon fiber covered with carbon fiber imitation vinyl! One can only shake their head about that one! Funny though.
