Title: Speaking of 215's
Post by: rficalora on October 25, 2007, 05:35:13 PM
I ran across this car the other day... not likely we'd seriously consider it but my wife really liked it.  No idea what it's really worth -- but wondering what net cost would be if i put a Chevy 350 in it & reappropriated the 215 :) ...

That isn't one of the cars in which the 215 appeared. Buicks covered are Special and Skylark 1961 to 1963 (plus Olds F85 and a very few Pontiac Tempests from the same period). The car you've shown looks like a '56. If it has a 215 in it, it's a retrofit, in which event it wouldn't be worth much. If the original engine's in it leave it to keep up the car's value.

There are still 215s in junkyards. I know where about a dozen are here in MN, and they surface on eBay, Craigslist, etc.

I'm not up on the Buick cars, but the sign said it was a Buick Special which is why I assumed it had a 215.  Place was closed when I took that pic & car was sold the following week when I stopped to ask about it.
