I have a set of aluminum Buick 300 heads that have been ported & polished with the largest valves possible installed. All work was performed by Mark at D&D Fabrications. Never installed, was building project engine and kids happened. I also have Rover 3.9 block with crossbolted mains, ford 255 pistons, custom rids, buick 300 crank, edelbrock intake and carb.

I am trying to locate a 3.9, with crossbolted mains - block - maybe even with the original crankshaft - if also available.
My problem is that I then must fill the cylinders with 8 each, T Top or Stove Top cylinder liners and then re-bore to the 3.5 size.
The SCCA GT2 rules specify that my RV8 Rover V8 must be a 3.5 litre V8. There is a SCCA "NO NO" on the 3.9. Too bad, for the liners and the machine work can be very expensive.
What will you need for the 3.9 block and where is it located ?

I will have to think about separating the block from pistons, rods, and 300 crank. Block is machined out to fit the 255 pistons.

I would be interested in the crank, rods, and pistons if you decide to separate. What size are the mains on the crank? I'd be putting this rotating assembly in a 4.6 block. Have the crank/rods/pistons have all been balanced already?

Phillip, would a 3.9 block that has the bosses for the cross bolts but haven't been drilled yet work for you? I might have a couple of those blocks here with bad sleeves. I've seen those blocks drilled to accept the cross bolts on stroker engine builds. Just a thought. I have a pile of dealer takeout motors, and could check the engine codes and see if any are the late 3.9s with the bosses.
Phillip, Can you de-stroke a 3.9L(no cross bolts) back to 3.5 L. and be legal ? You know, lotsa rpm. ? As far as I know, Huffaker used stock cast cranks in their GT-1 engines, and reved the piss, out of them. Good Luck.roverman.

Gosh, these are beautiful cylinder heads ! And since Mark Lagrue at D & D Fabrication Company made them, they are the best in the land. NO DOUBT !
The SCCA GT2 GCR rules even allow such modifications. At a later date and in another (amateur) racing season, a set of cylinder heads like these would be a dream on a 3.5 Rover 4 bolt main block. Even with flat top pistons I bet the dyno would reveal (at the rear wheels) over 250 HP.
