Did anyone notice that we revised the British V8 banner (at the top of every page of the website) yesterday?
The green stripes on the right-hand side of the banner are supposed to look like racing stripes on a car. To give credit where credit is due, I though that I'd mention that they were inspired by Peter Smith's car.
Is there a name for stripes that go from fender to fender like this?

Well on Camaro's they were called bumble bee strips. I think they look great. Does anyone know where to get this strip kit?

I've never seen or heard a name for that style stripe. Paul, I thought the bumble bee stripes originated on the rear of the Dodge Super Bee's.
This striping arrangement seemed to be quite popular and seen frequently on TriumphTR4's.

The stripes came from the factory on the Triumph 250, which was a TR4A with a 6 cylinder engine (sold as a TR5 in Europe).
"Yes" Dan is correct and Grahams picture has the correct placement of the stripe of the TR-250. In his picture you can see on the rear fender, the TR250 emblem, and the red running light cover under it.
I thought they where called F.I.A. stripes.
My mom bought a brand new '67 Camaro land it had the stripes like that, she called them bumble bee stripes.
Ditto on the 1st generation Camaro Bumblebee stripes. I believe they were part of the SS package.
Know I'm coming in a couple of years late, but it was an RS package bit on the 1st gen Camaro (SS was the performance package - An RS/SS has the hot motor and the stripes/fake downdrafts). If I were asked what the stripe was called, I'd have said a Triumph Stripe, as the TR5/TR250 had them before anyone else. LOTS of LBC owners have put them on since, though.
OK, so Scott,
I spent some time looking at the logo looking for the stripes.
Felt like a bit of an idiot until I read the whole post and realized that the logo must have evolved some.
Kinda like back in school. You know, read to the bottom of the page before you do anything.
Made me laugh at myself, I need more of that.

I always liked those Camaro hoods with the "downdraft" vents. Someone ought to come up with something like that for their LSx powered MG or Triumph.
On occasion, I am actually correct at something. :)
My synopsis after digesting a number of references:
The Bumblebee stripes (RPO D91), called Front Accent Band by Chevy, came as part of the 1967 SS package. Not RS. In early 1968, it was called Sport Stripes (RPO D90) and was included with the 1968 SS package. Not RS. It wrapped across the header panel then continued horizontally across the middle of fender & door. In 1969, RPO D90 was still included with the SS package (not RS), but was redesigned. The "Hockey Stick" stripe, as Camaro enthusiasts called it, for '69 did not go across the header panel. It was only on the fender & door.
RPO D91 & D90 was offered as an option on non-SS models.
As for Curtis' original question, I would call it a Front Accent Stripe.
Hello everyone, I am new to the site. I joined because I saw a photo of Peter Smiths MGB V8.
I believe that I am the guy that built that car.
Originally it had a 215 Buick and a TR7/TR8 and a stock MGB rear end.
We copied the stripes from a TR250 that I had in my shop in Illinois.
My shop was called British Auto Specialty located in Round Lake Illinois.

I know that Pete bought it from Vintage racecar MGB driver Chuck Fohrman from Chicago in 2000.

There were a lot of things that needed to be updated.
When we delivered the car to the original owner, it needed the rear end ratio changed.
I put a stock Buick 215 engine in it and a TR7/TR8 5 speed transmission. We had a TR250 in the shop and the original owner wanted us to put a stripe on it like the Triumph when we painted the car. I had the oil filter mounted on the inner fender well on the passenger side. I used TR4 motor mounts. I also used the low profile intake manifold and 4 barrel carb. The exhaust manifolds tucked inside of the frame rails. The exhaust was a 2 inch diameter to a single muffler. It also needed the tachometer calibrated to the V8 ignition.
