Title: Quick update
Post by: rficalora on March 21, 2010, 07:05:09 PM
Just got back from a mission trip biulding houses in Mexico on Friday and headed to California for work this evening... but did get to work on the car some on Sat.  Got the brake lines finished.  Also got the clutch line done too, but am second guessing - did it with 3/16" line and am wondering if I should have used 1/4"?

Anyway, Next up is fuel lines.  That should go quick.  Plan to use braided stainless from tank, over rear suspension to floor boards.  Then transition to straight runs of hard line under floors and back to braided stainless at firewall.  Hope to get that done this weekend.

Great Job Rob, that is a nice thing to do.

3/16 is just right.

Rob, 3/16 will be fine for the brakes as the fluid transfer rate needed isn't that high. For a clutch the smaller line can cause the slave to react a bit slower than some drivers like so 1/4" line aids there. For some older cars from the 40s etc with larger volumn drum brake wheel cylinders the larger lines were needed there, but for most of our MGs or LBCs the smaller lines are fine.
