Title: Aluminum or metal matrix brake rotor ?

Anybody ? Yes they are used on Midgets,(dirty ones) and sprint cars. How bout for buggies or race cars ? Way cheeper than carbon/carbon. Ceramic ?  Your thoughts ? roverman.

Art, from what I've read and heard most of those "high tech" brake rotors and pads for racing require a bit of heat before they work well which isn't the best for a street car. For most of us weight isn't a huge problem, even unsprung weight for street driving so considering the heat problems and cost I can't see any upside in that type of disc for a street car. If you're planning on road racing where you'd be really using the brakes and heat buildup and fade would be a problem then that may be the way to go.
