Title: New to Tr6
Post by: Tegguy on January 27, 2008, 05:34:53 PM
Hey everyone. This is my first Tr6 and actually my first project car. I do have a couple questions I am hoping people can answer. I have a 1969 Triumph TR6 I bought. It had a 302 in it till the tranny blew then it sat for quite a few years. Modifictions are ford 9" rear (have not been able to verify yet just picked the car up not to long ago), koni shocks, roll bar, rear fender flares, cowl induction, all mods to fit 302. Have a new dash piece, camero SS steering colum, custom welded headers for 302/289. I am sure I am forgetting a lot but my questions are:

1) The pass inner fender is rusted through I know I can order one on victoriabritish. Any advice on changing this out?
2) What motor mounts do you use for the ford 302?
3) what radiator works in the tr6?

Any other advice you can offer would be great also.

Congrats on the TR6!

I have not done the inner fender or extensive body work.......yet, so I'll leave that up to the rest of the forum and BritishV8 club members. I would really check out all the TR6 "How it was done" section on the website! Tons of info, resources, and vendor info.

Check out Dan Masters 302 conversions for a motor mount system.

I went a simular path, but got my mounts from Novack Conversions. They make conversion kit for 302 V8 Broncos.

I cut down the "T" section as it was too long, welded 2" channel steel for the base, drilled for the mounting bolt, and you have a TR6 V8 motor mount. It is a little more complicated than this as each car is different, each mount location is different depending on the owners placement, crossmember mods, stock hood or custom hood scoop, etc.

There are a lot of radiator options. Check out the "how it was done" section again. Some run stock TR6 and some with custom, pending stock location, or fabricated mounts, issues of A/C cooler placement, oil cooler, pusher of puller fans, etc.

I went with a new 1966-69 Ford Mustang radiator sourced from my local parts store, (21.5 x 22.25) mounted a little lower and in front of the stock mount and tilted forward to clear the hood, with a puller fan.

Here is a source to help with how to measure for where you want to place it. www.radiator.com
Summit Racing.com for my 14" fan, but there are lots of sources for these.
