Time to start thinking about this great event - who's got this one on their planner?

.....25th anniversary of the Collier Cup (for MG drivers) and Morgan is the 2009 Marque.
I guess I'm committed... Yesterday I finally bought my plane tickets.
Attaboy Curtis - I guarantee you'll take loads of photos and still have time for a beer or two at the Seneca Lodge! I'll PM you later and figure on a place and time to hook up.
Checking-in from the road... Actually, I flew into Washington DC today where I'm visiting family. Tomorrow I'll share the drive up to Watkins Glen with my old buddy Don Moyer. I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys, Graham!
If anyone's curious to see what cars will be at the Glen, here's a Registration List (http://svra.com/SVRA/SVRAHome.nsf/attachmentweb/EJEN-7MR27U/$file/Entry+List+-+By+Class.pdf) (I'm especially excited to see that there are a baker's dozen pre-registered Formula 5000 cars. They'll make a glorious noise! Twelve of them are certainly "British V8's" because they combine lightweight British chassis with small block Chevy engines. There's also a great field of early Formula Fords. A Morgan Plus 8 is registered to race in Group 8, and it looks like there are at least 50 pre-registered MG's. Only eight Triumphs are listed... no TR8's this year. I'm very curious to see the 1957 Triumph-powered Ambro, but I don't know if I can really count that as "British" because everything but the engine is American, eh? Interestingly, I also noted that someone plans to race a 6.2L Chevy Vega!!!)
Sad you can't be there? Well, try to enjoy these photos of cars that are pre-registered to race:

I could, and I would love to go, but the heck with watching a race at Watkins Glen. Since no one wants to put me in a real race car, I'm headed to Mantell Motorsports to hang out with the British V8 gearheads!
Well, I got home with a little over 2000 new photos. It'll take months to sort through them all. First things first though... today I added eighteen new photos to the article on John's Sebring replica, plus about a dozen photos each to Alan Tosler's page and to the Marcus Jones (ex. Don Munoz) MGB. Here are direct links to those three articles:
John Targett's MGB (http://www.britishracecar.com/JohnTargett-MG-MGB.htm)
Alan Tosler's MGB (http://www.britishracecar.com/AlanTosler-MG-MGB.htm)
Marcus Jones' MGB (http://www.britishracecar.com/DonMunoz-MG-MGB.htm)
There are some pretty nifty details on these cars!

I've been hearing about this event for years, but the shear number and variety of cars at Watkins Glen was absolutely astounding! The photos we took barely scratched the surface: Lola, Brabham, Reynard, GRD, Cooper, Lotus, Chevron, Crossle, March, Ralt, Argo, Lister/Jag, Allard, Riley, Marcos, Ginetta, MG, Triumph, Elva, Healey, Morgan, Turner... everywhere we looked there was something worth looking at!
Curtis's post is the "shortlist" of marque entry for WGI......here's some more that were there - everything from AC to Zink.
AC, Alfa, Ambro-Triumph, Argo, Aston Martin, Audi, Beach, BMW, Brahma, Bugatti, Chevrolet (Corvair, Corvette, Vega), Chinook, Datsun, Devin-Chevy, Elden, Fiat Abarth, Ford, Formcar, GRD, Jaguar, Huffaker, Macon, Marcos Mini, McClaren, McKee, McRae, Merlyn, Oldsmobile, Porsche, Pratt & Miller, Ralt-Beasley, Saab, Scarab, SPF GT-40, Surtees, Swift, Theodore, Tiga, TOJ, TVR, Van Dieman, Volvo, Winklemann, Wolseley, WRE Shadow, Yenko, Zink.
