For all you Buick fans that can not get ahold of all of those 1964 Buick aluminum heads and was wondering the weight difference, I hope this helps.

(update) I apologize for leaving everyone hanging. I accidently deleted the weights when I posted this a few years ago and never checked back on this post, I feel like a D*** A**. I will dig those heads back up and re-weigh them. And post some numbers. I do have in my possession a set of iron 300 heads with iron 4bbl  intake, aluminum 300 heads with aluminum intake and a set  of 215 aluminum heads and intake. The purpose was for all you guys that are weight conscious and was wondering about these different type of heads and intake weights.

Aluminum has about 1/3 the density of cast iron, so aluminum bare heads and intake will weigh about 1/3 as much as cast iron.

Actually the aluminum heads are 17lbs lighter than the cast iron ones. Aluminum heads and intake instead of cast iron makes a difference of 50lbs on the nose. (300)

Hope what helps?

If you meant to include some actual weights here please do or I may delete this thread.  There are some weights listed in other threads.

I know of a couple of guys running cast 300/340 heads.    Bigger valves.  I was told the pair of heads adds just under 40 pounds to the engine.  Only ever held the aluminum 300 heads.
