Hi All,
Here in Perth, Western Australia, I have the opportunity to acquire a TR7 without engine etc.

Im interested in using a standard Ford BARRA turbo engine from the XR6 Turbo available here in Australia. Stock, this engine is 330hp. The automatics are preferred as well.

 The dimensions are as follows:

The Overall length from back of block to edge of front pulley- 800mm

Overall width from edge of turbo to edge of intake- 730mm

Overall height from bottom of sump to top of crossover pipe- 680mm

I have attempted to upload a photo without any luck. A simple google image  search will show anybody interested the engine.

These measurements should encompass all the bolt on accessories that are on the engine too such as alternator, air con compressor etc. They might be 10mm out or so as measured in the engine compartment.

Any idea if this will fit into a TR7?
Thanks

Found this on the web for the TR7/TR8:
Shock tower to shock tower= 32 3/8", length of engine bay from transmission tunnel lip to radiator/hood mounting point= 31" , vertical measurement from K-member to hood line= 23 3/8", firewall to the back of the k-member= 16", and approx 33" from the floor to the top of the firewall where the hoodline meet.

Based on your info width might fit but not length unless you did a lot of firewall mods.

A straight 6 will definitely be too long to fit.  Now if you could find one of the V8 versions..... Sweet!

You might want to look at this conversion using a Lexus V8. :  http://forum.britishv8.org/read.php?3,40779

I'm not sure what the Lexus models are called in Australia, but these engines are definitely there.
