Started "frenching" the rear license plate. There is very little room to mount a light above the license plate. I am thinking of an LED strip?  Any ideas?

All the wires you need to connect to are right there in the trunk on the other side of the rear panel.

The trouble with those is that so far as I know at least, nobody makes a decent connector that is small enough to fit through the nut. So if you have to remove the tag it means cutting the wires.

There is a remedy that just occurred to me though. Cut a slot in the nut wide enough for the wire to slip through. It still doesn't get you past the holes in the body and the plate itself but it's astep in the right direction.

You could use the Posi-Tap Connectors and just unscrew if needed.  When I sold my B, just removed the screw on connectors and gave them to new owner.  Piece of Cake.  Posi-Tap is a Brand of connectors to do not require crimp or solder.

I used nylon nuts and bolts to hold the license plate mount on and cut a groove in the bolts to run the wires through. I have connectors that allow me to remove the license plate if i have to. It's a little bit of a hassle but I didn't have to drill any holes. It's worked for over 10 years now.

I used something like these shown, when I changed the plate I just cut a slot in the plate and did the same for the new plate.

I like my tag lights a little on the dim side, I don't know why I just do.

So the cops can't read it when you fly past?  ;)

Just bought the lights Jim Miller recommended - they certainly do the trick...

I like Charles' idea of notching the plate. You'd only need a 1/16" wide notch.

We rarely change plates here in TN.  First they figured out how much money they would save by doing away with the front plate, then they went to yearly stickers, then no more embossed plates.

I would have to dig thru the registration, but I am sure my truck & MG have a dozen or more year stickers stacked on top of each other.

Kinda brings an end to running year of manufacture license plates.

Quote...have a dozen or more year stickers stacked on top of each other....
That's how they do it in Ontario, too .....now only if they'd drop that ugly front plate and go with a single rear!
