Need the GM right now & the Rover LT77 next month, what you got Jim?

Sadly Glenn, I don't have anything for you. I just wanted to help with potential confusion over what you are asking for. It appears you want the BOP215/Rover pattern bellhousings. Looks like you are differentiating the two transmission patterns by calling them the Rover and BOP bellhousings, but GM designated the '64 and up corporate bellhousing as BOP so this causes confusion as that bell will not work with the 215/Rover variants, but as you know does work with the Buick 300 block that some of us use.

I hope this helps.

I have a Buick 215 bell housing with the dual tranny bolt pattern. It was cracked but it have been repaired. The clutch fork hole has also been welded closed to add strength. Due to the welding this bell housing will have to be indexed to the crank.

Glen if you need a BOP, I have one I'd sell.  Don't want to part with any off the ones that fit the 215/Rover.

MGBV8

Pretty sure Glen doesn't do BOP corporate.

Not unless he's recently dipped into the Buick 300 parts bin, and admittedly that does not sound a lot like him.

Sorry for not crossing the T & dotting the I. No I am still with the Rover/Buick alu. engine not the cast iron slug. Something that I have on the bucket list is the Vett LS engine in the GT, I think the LS engine would B the car I would call  "my last ride" Carl, talk to me about the bell you have? I will still need a Rover SD1 Triumph Tr8  "LT77" bell also

Oh well, maybe someday I'll be able to unload these BOP bellhousings.  If you want to go LS, the best bang for your buck would be to pick up a 97 to 02 Camaro.  Seen salvage ones for around a grand and running driving examples for 4k.  Pick up the whole car and you get the T56 6 speed as well.  Sure you can pick up an LS variant from a truck for under $500, but thats just like buying a Rover V8 and saying your doing a swap.  You still have to track down all the other parts, and they are not easy or cheap.  After doing a bunch of research I was left with the conclusion that the later LS2 and LS3 are light years ahead because of the larger bore, and the ability to get larger valves in the heads because of the larger bores.  Out of the box, the LS3 heads can flow enough air to support 600 HP.  My solution was to buy a salvage 2010 Camaro and sell of the extra parts.  All said and done, I should be into it for 5 to 6K for the complete driveline and two sets of huge Brembo calipers that I may or not be able to use.  If the seats weren't an ugly orange and black, I'd have a set of leather Recaros to use as well.  The engine management system is tunable, so no need to go out and buy a Megasquirt for it either.  I really see this as the future of engine swaps in LBCs.  Especially anybody that thinks they want to build a big HP stroker Rover engine.

Should have jumped on them, Todd, that is what leather dye is for.

Todd, you should list those BOP bells, there's been some interest in the "slug" 300 blocks lately, especially after Chris Gill got his stroker 300/350 running. 80 lbs for a block that will handle up to about 800 hp isn't a bad trade off, and with the TA Rover heads and a power adder you could get there. An LS may be better (a little heavier too) but the 300 can use the Rover headers and engine mounts, go in without surgery, etc. I'm a little surprised Glen disdains them so.

The seats are still in the Camaro.  Someone is interested in the whole interior, once I get around to removing it.  There's no dying these things.

Jim, the LS engine swap is 80 lbs more than the Rover engine, (same as the Ford) so I have been told. I had the 6 speed in my 72 roadster & I did not like it (always shifting). Will run a 5 speed with the LS engine, but not sure witch one. The 300 is fine but the LS needs NO HOOD SCOOP. Todd, thanks for the info. will put it to good use.

MGBV8

Don't tell Jim that. He thinks his blown 340 needs 8 gears.  ;)

Jim Stuart's 300 powered GT doesn't have a hood scoop...

According to GM a fully dressed LS weighs 497.2 lbs but numbers are all over the place. Do you have a reliable source for your numbers? We've weighed the SBB and SBF, both of which are within a pound or two of 400. From everything I've seen so far it looks like the LS is a little heavier, but maybe Scott Costanzo has a weight for his LS4. That'd be about the lightest version I think.

It does have a RV8 bonnet bulge, though.

I'll be pulling mine soon and I'll get some real world weights for it.  Plan is to drop the AC and power steering, so that will help.  It all ready has headers on it so no way of telling how much weight is saved on the exhaust manifolds.  FWIW these headers have 1 7/8" primaries.  Same size as the stock exhaust on a TR7.  The primaries dump into a dual 3" exhaust.  Think 2.5 was stock.

Slightly off topic...Jim Stuarts old GT now owned by Dave McCann, a fellow MGCC club member here in SW Ohio.

IMO, 1 3/4" would be ideal.

Still looking for the BPOR or the LT77 bell housing. I see the 2 that are on E bay, I would rather buy hear.
