Uh oh, Found a running Rover SD1 for sale fairly cheap.

Need something to drive while getting the El Camino and GT6-V6 into shape over the summer.

Looking at varied ads I was disgusted to see the prices asked for mind numbingly boring modern econo-boxes and sportier "Excellent condition, has rod knock" clunkers being offered.

All I wanted was something inexpensive to drive that would not add to the project list!
So now I find this, a factory British V8, fairly rare in the U.S. as so few were sold here.
FOUR doors AND a hatch back, not ME at all.
And an automatic to boot, which actually cost extra in 1980.

But you know, with the rear seat folded down it will carry a LOT of smallish parts.
An appreciating classic in Europe, considered the last true British Rover, and well regarded by the motoring press.

Needs "Some" work but IS running.
If it's still available on Tuesday it might end up being mine.
If I come to my senses in time I may pass it on to the for sale forum.

I thought I saw that some other members here had SD1's but cannot seem to locate their post tonight.

They're cool cars!

Here's a nice article on SD1. The photos that supplement it are of forum member Simon Austin's car.
1971 MGB GT V8
Buick 215 w/ Rover heads, custom EFI & crank-fired ignition.
Custom front and rear coilover suspensions.
